Greenwich Awards - November 2007
Michael Gregory and Katherine de Rome of Top Squad received "Sprit of the Games" individual trophies from the Mayor of Greenwich on 1st November at Woolwich Town Hall. These were for their swimming efforts at the London Youth Games held at Crystal Palace in June 2007 when they represented the London Borough of Greenwich
The Youth Games started in 1977 as part of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations and they have bee held annually ever since across a range of competitive sports. In 2007, Greenwich achieved an overall placing of 9th out of 33 boroughs - a huge improvement from 18th place in 2006. For GBM's swimmers to receive both awards was a fine achievement.

Dervis Konuralp - who won Gold and achieved a British Record in the Multi Disability Category for his 100m Butterfly swim at the ASA National Championships in Sheffield with a time of 1.02.83 on 28 July. Dervis also competed in the 50m Freestyle competition.
Michael Gregory –who participated in the ASA National Championships in July swimming in 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and 200m IM events.
