A number of GBM swimmers attended this long course meet in Crawley and achieved the following results.

Also representing GBM were Kelly Botero, Joshua Brewster, Luke Brewster, Ellen Dunbar, Nicholas Duxbury, Leanne Hennessy, Aimee Lockwood, Neema Nyaulingo and Chanel Robinson

A large group of swimmers accompanied by two coaches went across to Walthamstow for this Meet. All swam well with nearly every swim resulting in a Personal Best time and many swimmers came away with Top Three places.

The coaches were delighted with all the swimmers and it was a very successful weekend for all – congratulations to swimmers, coaches and parents.

Also representing GBM were Amy Chamberlain, Amy Collins, Katherine Curtis, Riya Das, Rachel Fielder, Millie Garnham, Holly Lewis, Natalie Smith and Jay Wearn.

Leonie Buck (13) went up to Sheffield as part of the Greater London Team to compete in this Disability Sport Event National Junior Championship in the S9, SB9 and SM9 categories.

Leonie attained Gold medals in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke and a top 5 position in all her other events - 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m IM, 50m Back, 100m Backstroke. She also got 2 silver medals in the relays.

Despite the weather’s best efforts to thwart our trip to the seaside, a determined group of GBM swimmers made their way down to Brighton through the snow.

Even with the backdrop of the Royal Pavilion, the shops in close proximity, the sound of seagulls and the sea a short walk away, the swimmers were not distracted from the task at hand, and all knuckled down to swim with enthusiasm and determination to work off the Christmas excesses. The objective was achieved and resulted in a number of placings and PB’s into the bargain.

Emma Mitchell and Luke Brewster both qualified for the 50m Skins with Emma achieving a 2nd place and Luke finishing 4th.

It was a great weekend enjoyed by parents and swimmers alike. The Saturday evening saw everyone going out en masse and taking over a local pizza restaurant who despite being short of staff, still served us with smiles and good humour. Shopping trips were made and a wander to the seaside for some, all contributed to the convivial feel of this weekend trip and a content group of swimmers returned back to London.

A group of GBM swimmers and parents braved the snowy conditions to wend our way up to Leeds and back down for this Level 1 Meet just days before Christmas – some experiencing rather fraught journeys. The idea of using the gala as an excuse for forgetting something over Christmas was gratefully seized by a few of us but others braved the weather to check out Leeds finest shops in-between sessions!

Last year’s Meet saw a number of GB Olympic Swimmers also swimming but this year most of them were at the Duel in the Pool in Manchester which left our swimmers with no distractions. A number of PB’s were swum and the following achievements were attained:

Emma Mitchell achieved her National Long Course Qualifying Time in the 100m Freestyle and Natasha Sinha achieved her 200m Butterfly National Long Course Qualifying Time and improved her 100m Butterfly time also - click here to view the Nationals Section

It was a great weekend, with both highs celebrating the National Qualifying Times gained and lows commiserating with the few who just missed out on their National Qualifying Times but all in all a content group headed back to London.

A number of GBM swimmers made their way down for an early start at Horsham for this 50m and 200m Meet. The swimmers all did very well, swimming PB’s and winning some medals also.
