Kent County Championships 2009
A record number of 33 GBM swimmers resulted in over 250 entries at this year’s Kent County Championships from GBM – a product of the outstanding level of hard work and commitment by both the swimmers and Coaches. Dressed in their GBM Kent t-shirts, the Club’s new GBM hoodies and swimming in their GBM Kent 2009 swimming caps, the GBM swimmers certainly created a presence on poolside. Not to be outdone and in a show of support, the parents also wore GBM Kent t-shirts and many favourable comments were received on the Club’s united image.
Image aside, the real test came in the pool. Each of the Championship’s 4 weekends of swimming saw the swimmers delivering the results. All in all the swimmers attained:
- 125 Top six places
- 10 Event Best Performances (EBP)
- 1 Senior County Record (SCR)
- 2 BAGCAT winners
- 7 National Qualifying Times (and a number who just missed out) - click here to view the Nationals Section
- 104 Regional Qualifying Times
And with a record number of PB’s, this year produced the Club’s best performance in the Kent County Championships for years - the Girls/Ladies finished 3rd and the Boys/Men 4th.
Congratulations to all the swimmers – great swims; to the Coaches for their hard work, dedication and input and last but not least, to the parents for their never ending support.
