The Club went up to Enfield, determined to achieve promotion to London Division 1 and hoping that we could win this Division outright. Our main rival was going to be UEA University of Norwich with a reputation as a strong team supported by their results from Rounds 1 and 2.
The competition was as tough as expected and UEA University of Norwich and GBM definitely showed themselves to be the strongest 2 teams. The points were close between the teams and it came down to the final races with UEA University of Norwich pipping GBM and securing the first place by 5 points.
The Club is promoted to London Region’s Division 1 for 2009 which is a fitting result of all the determination and the fantastic swims witnessed over all three rounds.
Congratulations to each and every swimmer who participated in any of the Rounds for their fantastic swims and their contribution to this exemplary display of team spirit. Thanks also to coaches Gil Levy and Bob Blake for their tireless efforts and commitment; the parents who help as officials and on poolside and last but by no means least, the parents whose vocal support is truly one of the best.

Attempting to build on the Club’s success in Round 1, the team went up to Clissold Leisure Centre full of determination.
Starting the Gala with Head Coach Gil Levy’s “Haka” and announcing their intentions the team swam with great enthusiasm and achieved a number of PB’s and bettered their points tally from Round 1. It was evening filled with elation, felt by everyone from the swimmers for their fantastic swims and team spirit; the coaches Gil Levy and Bob Blake, who were justifiably proud of their team and the parents who were unstinting in their support.
Round 3 sees GBM at Southbury Leisure Centre, Enfield hoping to consolidate the successes thus far.

The first round of GBM’s National Swimming League competition saw us swimming at Eltham Centre. We got off to a good start winning the gala with 343 points and the swimmers swam well attaining a number of PB’s and the coaches ended the night in good spirits too. Many thanks to all the parents who were vocal in their support as ever and all those who helped on poolside. We go into Round 2 at Clissold Leisure Centre hoping to build on the success.
