London Borough of Greenwich Championships 2011

GBM swimmers descended on Eltham Centre on an autumnal early evening to do battle with their fellow borough swimmers. It was my first meet as head coach of GBM and what a start with a successful night and a hatful of medals and personal best performances coming from all squads.

The swimmers were led in their stretching programme by acting boys captain Peter Coker and along with acting girl’s captain Chanel Robinson, looked after the swimmers on the night – thanks to both.

Due to a shortage of swimmers we joined forces with Beckenham for the final race of the evening the mixed squadron, and it was hotly contested race with our A team coming in a close second.

A big thank you to Helen who was indispensable and was always on hand with her stopwatch split times and who also put together the scratch squadron with Angela from Beckenham.

Caroline McGlade, Caroline Walker and John Townsend did a great job marshalling and getting the swimmers round to the ready benches, thanks.

Thanks to Ben Duxbury and team who produced the final time sheets efficiently and on time for all to take note, and Suzanne Philpot as Chair of the Borough ASA committee.

We now move forward to our next meet the National Arena League at Hatfield on the 8th October where I am sure the club and swimmers will rise to the challenge again maintaining concentration and focus during training over the next two weeks.

Well done everyone again see you all poolside,
