History

Greenwich Borough Mariners (formerly Woolwich Training and Swimming Club) is a long-established swimming Club with a proud history stretching back over many years. We have been one of the leading competitive Swimming Clubs for over 50 years. Several years ago, Greenwich Borough Mariners and Greenwich Swimming club joined forces to create Greenwich Meridian, a club which enabled greater choice for both clubs when it came to the selection of teams for galas. However, after an initial success, both clubs decided against the idea and once again competed as seperate clubs.

A large majority of our swimmers compete in the Speedo (London Region) National League, Division 2 and many also compete in the White Horse League. Younger swimmers compete in the M11 Region Junior Speedo League, Division 2 and in the Kent Junior League, Division 3. GBM also compete in many other local, regional and county galas.

In 2005, GBM became a Swim 21 (a club of excellence) club.
